Our neuro-ophthalmology department focuses on diagnosing and treating problems directly related to nervous system including those affecting optic nerve, visual pathways in the brain and eye movements. This specialty essentially bridges the field of ophthalmology and neurology. Neuro-ophthalmology patients require multi-disciplinary treatment, since it not only threatens vision but could also endanger their lives

Common Symptoms of
Neuro-Ophthalmology Disorders
A sudden decrease or total loss of vision.
Visual hallucinations, where patients see things, shapes or silhouettes where there are none
Diplopia (Double vision)
Headaches without any seeming cause or plausible
Abnormalities of the pupil (slow reaction, the difference in the size of the pupils)
Difficulties in identifying colors or differentiating between them
Only a neuro-ophthalmologist can effectively identify the above symptoms and initiate subsequent treatment of their causes. Neuro-ophthalmologists collaborate with many other subspecialists, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and rheumatologists.
